The 200tdi I was looking at is now sold so the search continues....on a positive note at the grand old age of 46 I passed my driving test this morning....I do like cars but my 40 year obsession with motorbikes gets in the way lol.

It's a 93 and has original engine in it.

Cheers for the info..was really looking for a 300tdi but this one came up and is tempting if I could get the price down a bit.I know the 200 tdi engine is bomb proof but realistically how many miles are they capable of before its time to change.Also how easy is it to come by a 200tdi disco engine.

It's had a new driveshaft and a galvanised chassis,doors are solid,just needs a respray really to look tidy.....I am still thinking its a lot of money for what it is but then I know very little about Landys.

bulkhead is in pretty good nick,would only be a minor repair from what i could see.it started out life as a van but now has rear seats and windows,havent a clue if its LEZ compliant.

Looked at a high mileage (170,000),Landy yesterday which though is a little ropey is mechanically sound and has no rot(maybe a little on the top of bulkhead).Are there any obvious pitfalls of buying a high mileage 200tdi and is it worth the asking price of just over £6000..

Finally managed to obtain some pics of the engine.

The seller has finally replied and now says it's a 4 cylinder rover diesel 2.5 litre engine....is that the original engine these vans came with...thanks all for the response so far.

Quite liked the van but the seller is now not answering questions about engine...unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened on eBay...didn't realise it was going to be such a task buying a gen landrover that doesn't need a fortune spent on it as soon as you buy it.

This is becoming so confusing lol...my thread is not misleading as the the seller told me he has an ex MOD landrover for sale with original engine...now when I enquired about what 2.5l diesel engine was in the Landry he told me he thought it was a four pot Perkins.....at this point I googled it...

The seller told me it's a 2.5 litre Perkins 4 pot engine in the landrover.I tried googling it but got nowhere so asked on here what this so called engine is,parts availability,reliability etc. At the moment it seems like the seller was telling me Porkies lol.

Thanks for the info...no idea which engine it is,what's the difference between the two.The seller just said it was a 2.5 diesel but will ask him for more info.

Seen a low mileage 95 110 which has according to seller has a four pot Perkins engine.Not worried that these are slow as would only use for local excursions,dogs etc but are engines reliable,do they over heat,are many mechanics around who can fix them and are parts easy/ cheap to obtain.

Had my heart set on a kept uptogether 90 or 110 defender tdi300 but after two months of looking at adverts saying bullet proof engine,no rust and never gone wrong until you go for a viewing and find out they are less than truthful I am thinking of going to plan b and paying a little extra for a...
