Update to issue: So, took the car to my mates garage (he doesn't have the flashy DPF machine so couldn't do that), he got his expensive ODB2 reader on to it and it was showing 41g of soot !!!! Now I've just paid over £600 to have the whole thing cleaned so a bit miffed that it was showing 41g...

I think the 4.4 on LPG will be cheaper on fuel than a diesel, don't the diesels do about 24mpg ? I roughly worked out last time that I'd been getting about the equivalent of 28mpg on LPG with cost of LPG against petrol
