    yes most of the ECUs are on the same diagnostic line, so, even though the 16 pin socket is inside the passenger compartment you will be able to find the wire on the engine ECU and create your own 16 pin socket in the engine compartment. Very clever.

    The diagnostics protocol can't tell which passenger door is open, as far as I know. Maybe it's a common wire for all three doors. It only knows drivers door or the others.

    I now have some more Freelander 1 ECUs to reverse engineer:- Instrument cluster Diesel burning heater V6 cruise control ECU. For the TD4 it appears to be built into the engine ECU, at least from a diagnostics point of view.

    Two more sensors arrived today from Rimmer Bros and I fitted them, so now all four sensors are new. The thing is, with ignition on but engine not running, the system sort of works, but the middle ones do sod all.
