I have a 3.5 EFI & employed a remote amp from PS that failed after a month. Not impressed by the company's insistence in replacing the item rather than agreeing to a refund. I did some research & purchased a Lucas (yes I know ..) which exhibited...

Decades ago I would have said 'why not' but linking in to today's complex vehicle electronics could see your instrument panel light up like a Christmas tree  But then I'm not a sparky, so waiting for informed advice would be a good idea.

I think bringing in an MOT or safety check for historic is a great idea. Being over 40 years old doesn't remove the need to keep the vehicle road worthy, something you confirm each year by signing the tax form, and yet so many old Land Rovers...

norseman reacted to tottot's post in the thread Series vehicles, are they ever so slightly a bit rubbish? with Like Like.
The Wilks Bros had the pre production run chassis galvanised. Rover dropped it on cost grounds and the thought that the "Land Rover" would only be a gap filler until other post war car design's came along. The Prototype Land rover was based on...

I've used their engine oil in my late 'nineties 5 series BMW for the past few years, the product meets all BM's specs. & is competitive on price. Just ordered it again for a forthcoming service.

norseman replied to the thread Series vehicles, are they ever so slightly a bit rubbish?.
I agree with most, but not all, the comments already made about Series LR of which I have owned 5 over the decades. By far their worst fault is that 90-odd percent of them are rot-boxes. The Wilks Bros. may well have copied the American Jeep...

norseman replied to the thread 3.9 v8, odd engine number?.
Tricky one, the 3.9 ltr. RV8 was produced from late '89 & used in a wide range of vehicles, not just LR products, so knowing it's origin would be a help. As it's fitted into a Series LR it's safe to assume it's running carbs. rather than the EFI...

Glad you sorted the problem. In leaving the discussion the only advice I can offer is that despite the RV8's antique design it doesn't perform well (or sometimes at all) with cheap ignition components. I have personal experience of the poor...

Strange how people's experience varies, even those owning the same make/type of engines. I've used Champions in a variety of cars, not just 4x4's, for decades & can't remember ever having a problem though admittedly the recommended replacement...

My V8 RRC will be 40 years old in 2027, but because it was built in June it won't be until April '28 that I can apply for Historic status :( So £360 (+ 5% as I pay by monthly DD) on renewal this year.
