thanks for that Wammers............... yes very heavy it took 2 of us to lift it out. now for the gearbox, that looks easy job. I'm putting a 4HP24 box as replacement its the 030 065 for my 2,5dse. as far as I know its a straight swap once you change the bell housing

is it full of oil, I drained gearbox

hi Datatek will my transfer box from the HP22 fit the hp24 box

Thanks Datatek !! I was told that a ZF4HP24 wont fit on the 2.5 diesel dse. is there something I don't know. the ZF4HP24 is a better box but what will I need to fit it to mine as there are lots of HP24s on ebay

drained some off its more like light red and clean, don't smell burnt in fact its same colour as the atf from new tin. oil level was ok. my box is 4HP22, model 1043-010-728. can I use any range rover 4HP22 box with a torque converter

Hi, my 1996 2.5 DSE RR gearbox lost drive, its a ZF4HP22 No 1043 010 728 are all ZF4HP22 RR gearboxes compatable with mine. the gearbox has drive when cold but it goes again when car gets hot. any ideas or compatable boxes:D:D:D

I have found a box its a THOR gearbox at £150 Serial number for this is 4HP 22 1787623 010 (767) is same number on mine This has done only 92k and warranty for 3 month is it any good for my car a p38 2.5 dse as I don't know what a THOR is

thanks for that Datatek I think i'll need the torque converter too because there not all the same, they must correspond with the last 3 digits on the second number plate mine is the 4hp22eh ....768, correct me if i'm wrong but its not advisable to fit old torque converter to replacement box
