Yes the filters do get clogged up. A tired pump usually impacts drivability as well as starting. But you said you replaced it, so it should be ok. When parked uphill, turn the ignition on without starting until the glow plug light goes out...

Full tank and not much of a slope at all . I did have a leaking fuel pipe from the inline filter that runs near the battery box but I simply replaced the pipe but I had this problem before that . Could the plastic inline fuel filter give any...

2003 Freelander 1 TD 4 . After an engine change a year ago my car is sometimes difficult to start when it's been parked pointing up hill . I really don't know if the up hill parking is part of the problem but if parked flat or pointing down hill...

From the photo, the screw doesn't look long enough? With the screw entered into the thread , the pipes can be wriggled in to place. A smear of silicone grease holds the O rings in place.
