Personally, I would go for original parts, but it's your choice and your pocket; some cheap aftermarket lip seals will not hold up for very long and you cant beat original bearings. I have used Rimmer Bros original parts they are good. You should not lose diff oil when changing seals and bearings.

If you are stripping down rear hubs to replace seals, it is easy to fit new bearings as well, then you are all set safe and sound for a considerable time. Wear in the bearings will allow some movement of the shafts in the seal lips which will result in more leaks fairly soon. I would recommend...

Definitely not an original wading plug hole. You may try a threaded bung from a 200L oil drum, which may fit the thread in your housing. Alternatively you can if you can find an engine core plug that fits you can knock it into place to plug the hole.

Phil, Fitting a new harness is an easy job for anyone to do......... Remove the accoustic cover on the engine (3 bolts) release the clip and the breather hose, loosen the 13 bolts, take off the cylinder head cover taking care to recover the sealing washers and spacers. Unplug the wiring harness...
