Noticed rust that will fail MOT. It's rotted out the seam under the rubber door seal going around the arch on near side rear. Will get a photo to show but if you open NSR door, just near the seat there's a black seal running around wheel arch. The metal it grips to has rotted off. I was hoping...

Yes, long term cost wise I suspect auto MAY be cheaper. But horses for courses, in my life the fill up cost is a bigger problem day to day than the need to find a chunk for a replacement clutch. Yes I get the point that it might be false economy to see manuals as cheaper to run overall.

Would those things affect MPG?! Even if that figure is 10% out it's still over 40, I am so amazed! Is yours the standard SD4?

Excellent write up, thanks very much for that. I am definitely getting close to hunting for a FL2. I think I will go for manual. Pulling my boat out of water is child's play, even a 2WD car could do it, the extra traction just helps with any slippery growth on the slip concrete after the summer...
