sorry to hear your predicament. replacing a head gasket is an easy job than can be completed by any semi competant mechanic as for any other reasons. rings, valve stem oil seals? you wouldnt know until you investigate
the swap can be done over a few days. will be easier if you have a few friends that know what they are doing. did the same last year on my own and took me 4 days/ evenings. what is the engine you are going to fit from as this will make a big diff when fitting.
oil vapour from your engine breather goes to the air filter to get burnt in the combustion cycle. there will be some oil in the intercooler/ intake simply due to these being after the filter in the flow of air to the engine.
what about the 12volt plug in ceramic heaters. not sure what they would be like for prelonged use but they are small and give off a good heat.you would be able to set ontop of the cubby and direct the heat back

you could always try a clutch claw or a pedal box that way i wont matter if the steering wheel turns they will not be able to use the pedals. alternatively you could alway use something on the pedals and steering wheel. overkill but it all helps:D
