Probably need a new tank. They are rust traps.
But first.
Don't trust anything about the restoration.
Remove the seat. Remove the lid on the seat box. Take a good look around the tank.
Especially when the bash plate cradles the inner tank at...
Another good thing about the Stable matting is that the dimples on the under side mean that air can circulate between the metalwork and rubber, keeping things dry. Easy and cheap to do, hard wearing, good sound proofing. No downside at all.
