Then it got it's yearly oil bath, sprayed oil and diesel underneath and into as many nooks that I could find.
I now look like a Junk yard dog.. covered in oil, but...
`Not very helpfully, I had changed the plugs from used Champs N9YC to new ones to new NGK BPR6ES. Still the same misfire, but a new distributor and rotor has now sorted it.
The 3.9 is running beautifully on NGKs but it did on Champs too before...
Its done !!! And Im also done in ! 12 hrs in the man cave, 1lt of etch primer, 2 lts of high build primer, 3 sheets or 80 120 and 400 grit block sanding pads and two bottles of Proper Job IPA and the tub is finally ready for top coat.
Thankfully my welder guy has a lot of experience with soldering, so I'll get him to do the repair properly. It did give me the opportunity to take the rad out and give it a proper flush.
All sorted now.
I ended up only replacing about 10" as the rest of the pipe was in good condition, just the bit where i spun the nut into got damaged 🤣
I plan on getting the body off later in the year so i will do a full job then.
Thanks all...

New starter fitted. As expected, it didn’t go without issue as it is a landy! One of the turbo studs sheared, needing drilling and tapping. The mechanic said a few choice words, which I won’t repeat! And a couple of extra earths were added. But...
Hi. It’s a pick-up, a break down recovery truck. Fitted with a 2.6 6 cylinder petrol which looks original. But I’ve never heard reference of this engine being offered in the series 1. In 1957 the last series 1 had 88” and a 109” wheel bases...
