And its done!
Very happy with the way it's turned out considering i made a quick sketch in 2 minutes the other night.
Couldn't fit my big round spotlights in so i went for some small square ones which don't look too bad.
Two lights stay up, two...
Happy to be advised - half the reason I log this all is to get your opinions!
Tangle… yes…. We had to do a big of a trig exercise with the winch to get the disco out my gates. Loom was dangling in bay. Stupid I know. I was more concerned about...
Welding on new mounts to chassis - yrm do them I think?! It will be v8 bellhousing with upgraded TC. I could initially run Hotwire but it just seems to make sense to megasquirt from beginning? The megasquirt isn’t a drop compared to turners cost.
Well this is the damage that I caused and has tipped the decision for the vehicles heart.
As per my other thread I’ve been umming and arring on to v8 or not but I’ve just bought a v8 ES auto loom.
Need to pop Dave an email to confirm but my zf...
There are pros & cons with this conversion.
If I go off road no water/crud goes into the drum & wears everything down. If I have an output seal go I see it quicker.
Cons.. you should not use this conversion if you do a lot of winching & when...
Will update when I've done something, it's going into a Series so won't do more than 3k miles a year, but while I'm at this point I'd rather not cut corners.
Already did this with a length of folded welding wire down # plughole to check both inlet & exhaust closed and piston coming up to TDC and it lined up nicely to the pulley mark & block-comb 0° :)
I've made a good start on it today, fit it up this afternoon to get the locations of the fixed uprights in position and i should finish it tomorrow hopefully.
It pivots on 16mm bolts at the bottom of the uprights and locates in notches at the top...
With and without the lid.

Great driving it without the roof 👌🏼👌🏼
What Land Rover do you have?
7.50 x 16, at least a proper one, is already very narrow and tall.
Next size down is 7.00 x 16, then 6.50 x 16, 6.00 x 16
But very very little choice in these sizes these days.
The narrower you go, the shorter the...
Thanks both. :)
As an IBM regional specialist in the Customer Engineering division the "Change 1 thing at a time" isn't lost on me; its standard practice. NO, the needle change on its own has not stopped it popping and farting, so I am really...
But does it run different/better/worse with the new needle without changing anything else.
I was always taught, change too many things at once and you never know what actually fixed it.

The x-eng disk brakes only need a bit of crud between the 2 plates & bearing actuator to slowly fail.(stops the ball bearing dropping into the tapered cup and applying brake) Once this is cleared mine work fine.
I know if it has crud in it as...
