4 pin only goes with 23 spline axles, I still have 10 spline ones. Switching over is not cheap. I did think about getting an ARB locker for the front diff, so far that is out of the budget. Plus, those need a compressor. A pitty the front true...
No, didn't solve that. Decided that this wholeix-matching is just a pain, and will result in a bunch of missing parts and parts I cannot use. Considered a pegged housing, new pinion and crown wheel, parts and a rebuild kit for bearings and such...
So, spent my lunch break while working from home to check something under the car. Pulled myself out grabbing the front propshaft. Managed to turn it by hand appr. 20 degrees. The rear one is tack solid.
Means the front diff is shot, but not...
It's amazing how it's actually going.. I did get a bit scared but only through the need of protecting myself but you know what.. This is something we both wantπ
Not today, but over the weekend really. 635mi round trip to Ard Rock MTB festival - didnβt set a foot out of place the entire drive. Set off Thursday after collecting a mate, and came back today. Even got complimented by one of the stewards when...
Moved one back a bit on the drive to allow easier access to garage !!
Yesterday, was in a 2024 Audi A6 rental car my son got from the insurance after his Jag was hit in the rear. Interesting bit was we were on the M4 heading to Bracknell...
Good news, the cat is back! She limps, but is otherwise fine. She sits in drive way bow, guarding the entrance. If I counted correctly, it is life 3 that is gone. Maybe even number four. She sure lives dangerously!π π₯°
In other news, I found out...
Removed the cover off the top of the injection pump and the boost diaphragm is immaculate with no holes or splits whatsoever. It did have oil on top however but I suspect this is from years ago when my head gasket failed and the engine ran away...
Quick googling told me that the white one goes to the top connector, linking the starter mortor to the coil. Makes sense, given the wire color. Apparently not necessary, I'll still fit a new female connector to wire everything up properly.
As...
Done for today. The black and purple wire is for a, according to the workshop manual, optional hand brake indicator. So I left that one unconnected.
The starter motor wiring and the speedo cable were a hell of a job so. Mostly done after all...
Done for today, weather and bad connectors won. To be continued next week for the alternator and after vacation for everything else. I need a bullet crimping tool, and that sounds like a nice souvenir from Scotland!
Just some questions regarding...
So, no quick fixes. Couple of reasons: some of the connectors of the head lamps and side indicators are not great, so to do it propably bullet connectors are the way to go. Then there I need to plug a new wire between the fuel pump connector on...
Lunch, and rain, break update: the main and engine harnesses are out. No idea why one would attach the engine harness using a inlet manifold bolt so. Anyway, the engine harness is more difficult than the main one, I did not expect that...
According to Royal Mail, the manual regulators should arrive early next week. Soon enough. And somehow I am done with electrics once the wire are in! π
Damn, forgot one thing. The electric wondows are removed. So I need at least a manual one for the driver side befire I can go to pass TΓV. Ordered one of eBay, we'll see when they are delivered. Hopefully next week!
Well, the "What did you do today ..." thread is not the best place to track all the wiring stiry. So here an update and summary so far:
All cables are identified and the routing as well. The rear harness is in, the main harness passes...
Yeah, there was a whole in the piece between the windshield and the bonnet for an antenna for the after market radio. Quite likely the water is slowly dripping down the cable, the antenna is still but will have to go as well.
Prep day to tackle the main harness tomorrow. That meant removing the front carpets, seat and cubby box. Turnes out you do NOT have to remove the heater unit, the harness passes well between the heat the bulkhead. Also, all connections to the...
Not sure about that but I would have to talk to a pro before I tried it. The current required to propel a 2 ton brick to 60 mph in under 10 seconds must be pretty high. Wouldn't want that earthing through my socks.
