Probably a stoopid question .... does a 300tdi disco engine have the same engine mount positions to suit a defender 300tdi chassis as the defender 300tdi engine?? Cheers

Absolutely no idea at present. Going to take body off first as chassis needs quite a bit of welding.... I will post pics as I go.

Got this at the weekend to add to the ever growing list of projects. Late 80's, low mileage but missing it's engine !...Luckily I have a good 300tdi disco engine at the back of the garage. Can't wait to get it home and start the strip down.

Sorn was filled in at same time as v5 was filled in but stupidly trusted seller to send both to dvla which he obviously didnt. Vehicle still has chassis number visible and vin plate too. It aint going to pass an mot without a lot of £££ so not going to risk rebuild until i know if i can get a...

Long story short... 4 years ago we bought (for very humble money) a mid 80's truckcab just out of mot that needed a new engine & chassis. Filled out v5 etc and the seller said he would post it along with a sorn form i filled in with him. Today checked status online and the dateless ni. reg now...

Thanks James....I will try Rtv on lower stud see what happens. I presume intermediate shaft is a transfer box out again scenario....

Had a leak from the transfer box so took it out this weekend and replaced input seal. Definately didnt disturb the seal refitting the box. Long story short there is now a leak presenting itself on the lowest stud but can't see any oil in the drain hole just above/beside it. Question is can oil...

Thanks James, been trying to find a set long enough .. most available locally seem to be max100mm length.

Anyone got a clue how to remove the gearbox oil seal collar? LT77 box output shaft. I know it usually requires an LR special tool but anyone found an alternative (cheaper) way to remove it ? It is badly scored where the seal sits hence replacement needed. Thanks

The worrying thing is I never removed the nut!!! The threads are heavily rusted and checking pics of when I did the timing belt 6 months ago the nut wasn't there then either.....
