Defenders are reasonably easy to 'break into'. I think one of the main things to do is not add too much/any bling. Extra lights, colour coded trimmed Recarro seats and MoMo steering wheels attract the wrong sort of people. Keep it scruffy looking...

Petrol is so much cheaper now it outweighs a lot of the benefit IMHO.

LPG can kill them as can oil containing zddp. The v8 sounds much nicer without cats. They don't really do much for emissions on this old engine, just restrict the exhaust and decrease mpg Mine had the cats emptied and refitted

What is the logic on cutting them out ?

Has it failed on emissions, or the lack of cats? Adding cats won't fix the emissions. Will it pass if you get the emissions down without putting cats on?

Just been to the garage - they reckon the cats have been cut out and replaced with straight pipes. Pictures to follow later. If that's the case - please do share where I can get some replacement ones. Should the O2 sensors be pre-cat or post-cat?

If they do MOT's I would be sure they would know if the cat had been tampered with you should see it easily enough when on ramps.

Some days just work out like that......I spent 3 hours trying to take a wing off a classic car to get to an aerial.... seemed simple few bolts, inner wing needs to come off.....bit more the bleeding front fascia needs to come off...... bit more...
