A 1981 series 3 i was given has become a runner ! (Thanks to james and tobi) It started on the second turn of the key and ran a treat, it has'nt be started since 2000 and has sat out side in all weathers. i thought id chance just cranking it over but couldnt believe it when it fired up on 11...

cheers for all the advice lads, just a update on the old series 3. i sorted the wire problem just a break in the wire, and then it started on the second turn of the key !!!!! the last time it was started was 2000 , so the diesel was 11 years old !!! got to love british engines and only one...

cheers james i thought that may be the problem , i think i need to get a newer battery on there too as i wasnt getting much light on the red glow plug heat light .

Hi all im a defender owner who has just become the owner or a 1981 diesel series 3 (a freebie off someone i know) .its been sat for 4 years. tryed to start it a couple of weeks back and had nothing so i whipped off the starter motor cleaned up and checked it with jump leads , worked a treat ...

cheers wiltshire landyman just managed to pick up a set of rover214 SEi seats on e bay for only 38 quid ! Ill try and stick them in when i get a chance, got to be better than my split defender ones !!!

sean thanks for your help, the terminals are plate bolt trou types , thats why i was thinking of using it as a second battery for all my lights and stuff, sorry for being slow but what differance does the 120amps make compared to a standard batterthis is what it looks like with the details...

i also have just got a v sad looking series 3 ,could i use this as it battery as its missing one at moment?

sean at moment i have some crapy varta battery thats been in my 200 since i got it, is this battery ok to use then is the amps not to high for the wiring? im new to this 12 v wiring stuff!!
