Reducing body roll - sorry if this is heresy.

I've yet to drive an RR so may end up disappointed. Mainly want decent performance as the old K series is a bit sluggish in the cut and thrust of rural Sussex driving but scared of V8 running costs. Otherwise thinking of an X5 (sorry for the blasphemy) as it needs a high noseweight limit to...

Reducing body roll - sorry if this is heresy.

A few hundred miles down the road and I am made up with the assisters. Although it obviously still rolls, there isn't that sense of tipping into a corner and it feels much more stable. My wife is still impressed - enough to say we should ultimately go for a newer and better 4x4 when we change...

    Tailgate latch not latching

Thanks for that link - mine failed today as well so ordered via your link. Rusty and clapped isn't the word for it. Biggest scare was when I had originally taken the lock out for inspection and when I reconnected the battery (cos Mr Haynes told me to disconnect it for some reason) the rear...

Reducing body roll - sorry if this is heresy.

Spring assisters fitted on Saturday and everything's positive. Even allowing for the psychological effect, the difference is substantial and it feels much more stable, with no tipping into the corner. It's no sports car obviously but feels far more pleasant to drive and my wife was impressed for...

The tip came up trumps with a fine collection of saucepans to choose from and it was free!! Not sure if I'll get them fitted this weekend but I will report back as soon as I've got them sorted.

She'd already read the instructions :( I'm not sure I want my dinner to taste of rubber either. Maybe I'll call in to our local tip this morning as they have a shop so might have something I can use.

GE15's now delivered. Now I've got to find a big saucepan to boil them in!!! They need 10 minutes of boiling to make them flexible but my wife won't let me use one of her kitchen pans. :( :(

42mm gap so it looks like GE15 but I will check with Graystons on Monday.

Grayston's agree that a pair of assisters on the back only (NOT the front) will really help control turn in body roll so I will have a measure in the next few days and get them to specify what I need. Thanks for the advice guys and keep on Alp-ing.

My Europe touring days on a bike were some time ago now (when we were married in the late 70's). Just looking to change my Yamaha WR450 for a KTM 250 or 400. Also got a Beta 250 trials bike but I'm a bit talentless on that :(

No apologies need for hijacks talking about bikes or mountains. My little KTM I've spent too much time looking for a replacement enduro/trail bike today so will look at inserts tomorrow.

Shame you're so far north, we have just had a replica of the Italian Job ending of the coach hanging off the cliff set on our superb De la Warr Pavilion in Bexhill as some Installation Art. Thnaks for the replies. You are right singvogel - it is 14 years old and 106k. I am not looking for sporty handling - my BMW does that - obviously I expect it to wallow a bit but something to take the edge off it would be nice but at that age and low value it's not worth spending good...

Is there a cheap and effective way of reducing body roll to slightly less wallowy levels? I'm not looking to go green laning (I've got my trail bike for that) or any extreme driving (too scared) but would like to stop that sickening lurch as the thing starts falling over. It might also stop my...

    photo of my nightmare freelander

My brakes are scary compared to my 130 BMW so it's all relative. My brother in law has just spent around £2k on a new gearbox and a load of welding on his 98 Disco that he has had from new and has been loving looked after and done no more than cross a few fields or driven to work on normal...
