hello one and all. I have a 1995 Disco and am in the middle of fitting an aftermarket alarm to the vehicle. The snag i have reached just now is connecting the alarm to the central locking. :doh: Does anyone know what the colour codes are for the central locking cables and what the relevent...

Im not making the assumption that the cam belt will fix it. i just mean i dont trust myself to work on the timing and i have a comeback if the engine goes bang as a result of incorrect timing. I dont literally shout at garages. And i live near Fortrose.

Nah, i'll let a garage do it (not the same one that fitted the engine) if i get a garage to do it then i have someone to shout at when it goes pete tong :) Yeh someone mentioned at work earlier that the timing may be out enough to allow the car to run but could explain the lack of torque...

Sorry i have no history on the engine. and my dad sourced the engine and supplied it to the garage. Oh well, looks like i'll need to put it into a diesel tuning centre and see what happens

Whoops, fair one.. Its a 1995 Discovery 300 TDi. The engine was taken from another 1995 disco with 79k on the clock.

Hello all. Just got my car back from the garage after getting a second hand engine fitted. However since its back the car uses about twice the amount of fuel of the old engine, however doesnt smoke. Also, the torque has basically vanished. If im in top gear and go up a hill as little as 15...

i gave it into a specialist 4x4 garage in inverness and he's quite switched on with his vehicles and he jus started testing things. It was either going to be the injector, the tank lift pump or the fuel pump. I'm glad it was the cheaper option as the pump costs the best part of a grand

Just an update. the car is now fixed. The gearbox fault was a red herring. The fault was the no4 injector and since its replacement the fault has gone. Nothing appeared on the diagnostics however. chris

Car doesnt lock into third. It runs fine when cold and then at some random time when car has heated up it gives the fault message and then shuts down the engine. You can restart however at times it immediately shuts the engine down again. Will have a look at the suggested items see if anything...

no none of them sell it. they sell mixtures with bio diesel in it but they still charge you full price. When i was down in portsmouth i was only paying 65 pence a litre and need to find somewhere like that up at home
