Cheers for the info. I'm not going to put a series box\transfer into it - its pretty obvious that it was never intended to handle the extra power of a v8, especially one with 200hp or more. And screw having a spare box kicking around just in case..
Quite a bit shorter huh.. I take it the bottom pic is a v8 bell-housing? In any case I'm leaning away from the idea of putting a v8 onto a series box. A good mate of mine piped up saying he had a holden 253 v8 in his series 3 88 for a while until he blew the box - he was giving it some stick (on...
Awesome info.. thanks! although my VIN starts with 'SAL' (1984). Don't suppose you know how the defender type mirror attaches? looks as though its to the hinge as well. I considered the defender style mirror - the only reason I didn't is I prefer the old school look of clamp type. Functionally...
"you will need a V8 adapter ring to fit the V8 to the short 380, the 380 inc bellhousing is 500mm, adapter rings are approx 60mm, you will have to mod the props and mounts accordingly" Kind regards, David Ashcroft
Yeah £1200 is nuts - can get a fully rebuilt r380 with bell-housing from ashcroft for less than that.
I'm sitting on the fence re the engine/gearbox choice. From what I've read, a rebuilt series box and transfer will probably be ok with a stock 3.5 as long as I don't drive it like a mongrel...
I'm trying to work something out with them now - hitting some resistance though. A refund means I'd have to send them back which isn't worth it (shipping cost from NZ to UK). So asking for them to refund the diff between what I paid and what they offer the Britax OEM mirror for - which seems...
They are slightly different - different clamp on the back. Mine has a chunky(ish) plastic clamp. Doesn't matter that much anyway. It was more that the site I bought it off described it as being a genuine original land rover mirror - manufactured by land rover - with land rover branding. But they...
Yep Series mirrors. I just wonder if anyone has seen the factory original version of them - if there's such a thing (with Land Rover branding). And I would have thought the original ones would have had a metal backing - these are plastic.
Here's a pic of mine installed. I had to drill the holes...
A very question?
They mount on the door hinge.
Hinge - Top Left Hand - Drilled For Mirror (Part # MXC8285) - Land Rover bolts\clamps\brackets\washers from Atlantic British
The mirror arm part number is MRC4583, the mirror itself is STC3213.
Got this back from milner 4x4..
