It is booked in with a LR indy tomorrow, just wanted to check ahead of time. Current MOT station told me it wasn't going to pass either way if it had no cats

That's good to know. I'm back at square one then - assuming the MOT station won't fail it for missing cats, what's the usual process of diagnosing high emissions? I'm going to have them check the voltages on the O2 sensors today to see if...

Just been to the garage - they reckon the cats have been cut out and replaced with straight pipes. Pictures to follow later. If that's the case - please do share where I can get some replacement ones. Should the O2 sensors be pre-cat or post-cat?

Haven't heard back from the garage today (despite telling me they'd ring - classic). There's another garage a bit further which has all the LR diagnostic equipment, so I've booked it in with them later this week. Hopefully all will become clear...

It's at the station right now so I can't take a look yet - I did mention the lambda sensors, but they said they were '100% confident' the cats are at fault. They said they would have to change all 4 lambda sensors to be able to rule that out...

MOT station has just rang - they reckon there could be an issue with the cats. Said they sounded hollow when they tapped them. Is there a quick way to diagnose this?

Top hose was cold and squishy this morning. No obvious leaks either, so fingers crossed. Next issue is why my battery doesn't last more than a few hours, but I'll save that for another thread

When the coolant is cold, there should be no pressure.
