Mine creaks if I adjust the height with the handbrake on and in park. Much smoother in neutral and no handbrake. As long as you're not on a hill :)

It could be the handbrake. A lot of cars do it. As the sus drops the angle of the arm changes at the rear and can force the handbrake a little. Your on cable and not electric aren't you @gold rover? 🤔

What are they doing? are there any light faults showing on the dash? Are there any fault codes in the LCM? If you unplug the LCM for a few minutes and reconnect it is everything ok again for another 5 mins?

Surely it's normal to have oil pressure warning until the engine is started.

The bulb test can be turned off/on but I suspect you are right. Think my Foxwell gives date of manufacture but no idea about you're diags

Not sure about previous owners replacing it but there's no tamper dot on the display. The fact the lights flicker with the bulb test suggests it's intended for normal incandescent bulbs so I'm thinking it is original.

Is it the original LCM? maybe someone replaced it with the wrong model year. Later LED version etc. Is the tamper dot displayed on the cluster?

Surely it would take a lot of fuel to hydrolock it. And once the valves have opened the fuel would have been forced out.

I know it's unlikely but easy to rule out.

Nothing to lose by doing that, certainly. TBH the cylinder heads on these vehicles are so complex what with having all the injection gubbins in them, I'd also be giving the starter motor a large dose of looking at. Those sounds, cos to me there...

Is it worth taking the injectors out and making sure the HG hasn't gone and it's hydro locking? Had that on a 300tdi.
