Thanks for that very useful reply KillaJoules - I did try to thank you yesterday but my PC crashed during the 'send' and my reply was lost in the ether... bloody computers lol
Anyway, thats really good info - I didn't realise that the 6cyl gearbox was mounted further back for instance - you...
Thats my understanding Blackburn. If they can fit a 6cyl panel as part of the resto then I should be sorted - IF its true that it gives enough clearance for a V8...
Got a set of Allmakes (I think) 2" suspension lift blocks - bought 3 months ago but I've had a change of plans. Obviously as new condition, still boxed. I paid £75 IIRC, will take £60 + postage?
The force is strong with you, young ajb403 :fighting2:
As you say, they're likely to be rocking horse poo-poo, but I understand that Ashtree or similar may be able to restore a 4 cyl bulkhead to 6 cyl spec, hence my interest and question.
Thanks for that everyone.
Mriceman, the 2A is my standby plan lol. Thats a lovely SW you have! As my 109 is a project needing some pretty major work I'm considering everything about it before starting the stripdown (hence my asking if 6 cylinder bulkheads will allow a V8 conversion without...
Was it a change in the UK law though? This is where I'm getting confused, I thought it was simply US law that forced LRs hand, along with the need to give a wider spread of light, which the S2 was famously lacking.
The bulkhead in my 109 is fairly comprehensively shot, and with an eye to the future I was wondering whether it'd be better to fit a 6 cylinder bulkhead if I can find one - I understand that these have a deeper inset to allow for the longer engine which *may* suit a Rangie V8 conversion better...
I've done a bit of googling but can't find anything definitive, so I thought I'd ask here. Would it be legal to fit a Series 2 front rad panel and lights onto an '82 Series III (along with S2 wings)?
As far as I can tell the lights needs to be max 400mm max from the outer edge of the...
Nope, they're rocking horse poo poo at the moment :(
Tdis are everywhere but I want to stick with petrol. No immediate rush for me - I'm doing a restoration of my 109 so the engine will be amongst the last assemblies to go back on. I reckon that'll be in 9-12 months time
This is a great thread, enthralling!
Just wondering - did you use the knotted wire wheel to clean up the rust throughout or did you use any chemical stripper as well? Just wondering as I have a 109 to rebuild shortly... :)
Cheers
I'm looking for a good condition, running 17H 2.5 petrol engine to go into my 109. Needs to be complete with carb, manifolds, alternator, flywheel, pulleys etc
Probably best to email me at psychoduck88 at hotmail dot com
Cheers :)
