Can anyone tell me what the sensor is in picture, the wiring has a socket/connector with a blanking plug in it (not quite visible in photo) it then goes into the ECU box. When car recently in the local garage mechanic there thought it was some kind of modification but wasn't sure. Thanks

I've recently had similar problem, see thread 05 td4 irregular throttle response, idle lumpy and couldn't hold revs steady below 1800rpm but mine was worse when engine cold (very under powered) was a faulty injector.

Final update - Faulty cured today with replacement of injector. Running well now and only cost £235 so smiles all round :) Thanks to all that had an input.

Just s quick update. Been to a local Land Rover garage today for diagnostics. Showing injector fault ( no 1). Going in on Monday to be replaced. No other faults showing on computer so hopefully problem will be sorted.

Quick update, removed egr valve and cleaned it, was quite dirty but not stuck open at all. refitted but made no difference to 'lumpy idle' Disconnected MAF but this made no difference, possibly made idle worse. Added a dose of Millers Eco Max to the tank of Esso diesel put in last night and...

I've had a good tug on the crank pulley and seems solid. Hoping its nothing as serious as crankshaft. Have a feeling (hoping) its just running rough. Tonight idle speed low, about 750rpm and engine skaking ( possibly causing vibration). Read on here how esso diesel is better performance so...

Forgot to mention, engine very noisy between 1000-1800rpm, rattles like an old diesel and a lot of vibration. Thanks for the feedback so far.
