I got caught up in the "endowment farce" all the time I had the mortgage I ignored the red letter's warning me to pay in more (in failing endowment, good idea!) and in the end it paid out exactly as it was predicted originally. Must have been a rare case.

    Which advice exactly?

Looks good. I quite like the Bilthamber stuff. Should last well if it doesn't get a hard life.

I do have some of them and it recent years they have worked out in comparison to savings accounts available. Brings a moment of joy each month when you win something.

    To-Do-List when picking up a new 90

The first thing I did was take the little steering wheel off and put a proper one on, I then fitted the steering wheel lock and pedal lock. The next thing I did was take it for a drive I then ordered a fuel pressure regulator repair kit as it was leaking fuel. I have been ordering stuff on a...

    To-Do-List when picking up a new 90

If you have a removable steering wheel, the thieves can bring one with them. A 90 went missing not that far from us, pedal lock, alarm, removable steering wheel and column lock cover. It took just over a minute to be stolen.

The bloke seems nice enough and easy to get on with and I'm sure his advice will be sound. I am in two minds whether to just put the additional money aside, ISAs for example, or into a transfered pension. I have a feeling he is used to clients with more money than me. Be great if I had a dying...

Newbie Question - Is this rust bad under a TD5 90?

You can paint if you like. I like to use Bilthamber products, you need to use a rust converter before you coat it in anything. Also it's not a one off job especially if you go green laning. In an ideal world you need to keep on top of it every year but it's such a chore I doubt most people do...

I always have a nagging doubt that any advice is really in my interest and more likely any extra money just goes in additional fees. The fact the advisor has a new car and a big house goes some way towards confirming my fears!

Newbie Question - Is this rust bad under a TD5 90?

Depends what is on the chassis to what you use. If it's one of them bitumen products you might find a heat gun and scraper/wire brush works well. I have used grinders, wire wheels, all sorts. You can get fibre discs to go on a grinder, the blue ones are good enough to grind down welds.

I have no idea what you said but it's harder than what it looks. I tried doing a Mk1 Escort many years ago, products probably better now.

    Discovery 2 Earthing problem

Aha an off road monstrosity 🤣 First job would be to disconnect the battery before it burns to the ground. I am no electrician but would check out all main earths and main live cables. Wonder if there are any previous modifications that may be involved, winches, light bars and alike. The help of...
