Ok so quick update on this. Was sorting on the handbrake last night and while undoing the prop shaft bolts the gearbox and transfer box would lift up a bit. But on the rubber was moving, the mounts themselves are tight if that makes sense. The transfer box mount is brand new (****part). Could it...

New oil has made no noticable difference. :s

Yer have checked levels. All Fine. Transfer box just had oil change. Am planning on changing the gearbox oil for new when I get the chance. Hopefully at the weekend.

Yer I initially thought it might be them. rear seems ok, front had a bit of play, changed it and no difference.

Ok. Well starting to think it's both. When doing 70 rattling and whirring, distinct whirring when engine breaking, noise dissappears when going downhill and you match revs to speed. Is it possible could be bearing making a whirring and a rattling. Feel like whirring could be box and rattling is...

Sorry about all the posts. Another thought, how did the defender v8s do it? Is it possible to use a vacuum pump off one of them?

Is there a way of using the servo from a p38? How do they have power assisted brakes? Not familiar with a p38 brake system.

Ok. Well the 4.6 is in so thats a done deal. Lol. If it dies then maybe a 4.0 will go in. Will the p38 pump fit in the def tank tho in terms of length etc. Also gonna need as big a tank as I can get. Lol Have had a quick investigate into the electric vac pumps. Not cheap. Is a brake booster...
