As above wont drive when in drive. Put it in 1st and go up through thr box and its ok. Thats untill you have to stop at traffic lights etc. Then its back to 1st and back up through the box. Is it buggered or have i missed something, i have a feeling its gona be expensive.Bazz.

Your one way sprag clutch has failed.

Its a box rebuild I am afraid

I know a good place in Hampshire if you are this way?

Hi Bazz

Got the same on my P38 2.5. Driven it like it since I got back in January. Inconvienient but doesn't seem to bother you after a while.

Am I doing any damage?

Thanks Fett, at least i can still drive it without doing any more damage. Apparentely it will need a rebuild at some time. Bazz.:frown:

Yup anywhere form 1k upwards

You could put a used box in but then it might cost you £400 for labour and £100+ for the box and it still might not last, or even work at all.


If you fit one yourself be carefull not to crack the pump when you do up the bellhousing bolts, you have to make sure the torque converter is seated properly by wiggling it around.
