Why would you WASH your Land Rover? Ive had mud in the same place for two years in the 88"! My girlfreind doesnt care, ive taken it to important meetings as well!

OK, so here goes...
Reason 1 - I had rather a lot of sand on there. Probably 10kg or so. It's worth getting rid of that amount of weight, probably.
Reason 2 - People have told me that by leaving mud, sand etc... stuck to the underside (and side) of my vehicle, it'll make it corrode faster.
However, my logical brain tells me that although sand and mud will keep water in contact with the metal for longer without letting it dry out, it will also stop the air getting to it. Given that water + air = rust, which is worse? Allowing the oxygen in, or not letting the water escape?

ah, OK...
definitely worth cleaning at least the underside after a muddy day out then!
Trouble is, it's tricky to get into everywhere with a pressure washer without laying underneath it at the same time! Do Discos with a 2" lift fit into car washes? And are there any car washes that do a decent underside wash? I doubt it, but ya never know...

ive never seen a valeting company who will clean the mud out from underneath your car though...
