Bugger not good, atleast it should be cheaper than an l322 to fix, hope the recovery don't take to much longer .

Oh you're in for a treat. Had a front drive shaft snap on one of our wagons and jam in the CV. It was an absolute pain in the tits. As was fishing out the other half of the shaft.

I had a CV joint shed all its balls in 1998 20 miles from a place called Ust Kut in Siberia and wasnt going anywhere. I managed to remove the shaft and get a tow back to Ust Kut where I found the cage that held the balls in had broken there was no chance of getting a new one (the car was a Citroen BX 19) after looking around for a day or so I managed to find some one in a ship yard that had access to a lathe and he took about a day to turn up a new cage.I was a bit noisy when I tried it out but it was driving and got me 2000 miles where i found one in a breakers yard and that got me to Vladivostok where I had one shipped out from the UK via DHL and then that got me back to the UK .Im afraid that when I got back after doing 38000 mile through Russia i had to sell it to the scrap yard.

But it is said the doors fall off, Freelander doors are probably not easy to get in Russia either, suppose one could nail a sheet of corrugated iron on in place of a door to get back to civilisation. (Freelander owners, please forgive me, I couldn't resist it!)

These days you can get any Land Rover part in Russia even in Siberia
