Any electric winch has usually got two big terminals , one will be the feed the other will be the earth, usually marked . The usual standard is to run the positive(power feed in) to the battery positive (this is assuming negative earth) Via a heavy duty isolator switch.
The negative will go to GOOD earth point on the chassis.
The winch should have come with a plug in controller. That is prewired . If the winch goes the wrong direction when you operate then the heavy supply cables will need to be reversed. Make sure that the supply is isolated at the switch before connecting to battery, as if any relays stuck you could get a big spark when you touch to battery with resultant risk of explosion HTSH
