Hi all,
My superwinch has stopped working and is clicking when the switch is operated. Does anyone have a guide to strip, test and fixing.

Sorry I don't know what model it is.

have you tried bypassing the solenoid ?

Put positive direct to motor terminal rather than it going through the solenoid

Which of the three terminals would that be then? I take it this is without taking it apart first.

the one with the red cable going to it

make sure you know which cable it is if you are gonna do that, i fecked my old superwinch by doing a similar thing to test if it was the solenoid or not, if smoke comes out the motor its not a good thing...................apparently

Heheheh I don't suppose it's a good thing.

The red power wire goes into the unit and there are three external terminals.

Try tapping the bit that's clicking with a hammer while operating the switch.

Might just be sticking slightly.

Mine does this sometimes.

It hasn't been used in a year so I will give that a go first. Now where did I put my 14lb sledge hammer?

Finally got it off and it doesn't look too bad inside. Some evidence of silt in the workings but the motor turns freely and without any roughness.

Mmmmm - you may want to re-grease that at some time ...
