Just changed the glow plugs, a simple enough job I though. just started it and now the engine warning light is comming on especially when I rev it and it also cuts out. The only thing I did was unplug and move the no4 injector wiring as the outer sheath had worn away due to rubbing on the intake manifold. You try and do something right and it gets flung back at you.

Yes it is, thats the problem. Wiggled the wire and its now not cutting out but have the engine warning light permanently on. Took it round the block with no issues even over 3k revs.

Well that's good it's running, it's obviously triggered the light, maybe it will disappear after a few start cycles, alternatively a battery disconnect may clear it.

Someone better will know I'm sure, I have no experience of P38s.

I think it will have logged a hard fault and will need plugging in to clear it.
Definitely needs the wiring repairing properly though as you can guarantee it will fail at the most inopportune moment.
No point clearing the fault until you are 100% certain the fault is fixed though.

Thinking of a new injector as wiring is definitely duff, putting the wire at one position kills the engine. What annoys me the most is that I moved the wire to stop it being stuck between leak off pipes and manifold and didn't want to pinch it when reinstalling manifold. All this for doing the right thing.

If it ain't broke!

Think it will run with no #4 wire broken but with EML on? @wammers will know. Doesn't sound good.

As I said I took it,round the block with no issues. Even put it in low ratio and drove it at 3k revs without any other warning apart from Engine warning light. Will look for a replacement tomorrow.
