ive just changed my front bumper for a winch bumper and have struck a problem, where do I put my numberplate?? The only place I can think of is on the grille but wont this affect the intercooler and radiator? because TD5s only have a small grille! Its currently cable tied to my sunvisor so any help appreciated!! pics of your ideas would be ideal!
thanks!

There are mounts around that will let you clip plate in front of winch, and then just remove it whilst using winch. There were some on ebay.

Thanks mate but ive already thought of that, its too easy to steal then, theres been lots of numberplate thefts around here, particularly on 4x4s and vans cos theyre used in ram raids then with your numberplate, happened to my mates transit a few weeks back!

thats where its at at the moment, but it keeps falling down behind the dashboard (not visible at all then) and not letting the windscreen demist :( should have thought of this before getting a winch bumper! haha

oooh now theres an idea, are they legal then?? I thought it had to be reflective?

saying that, anythings more legal than what I have now! haha

Don't know if you can still get them since all this producing your v5 crap, but you used to be able to get proper reflective number plate background stickers and the correct numbers etc. Maybe one of the restoration bunch might still do them, e.g. Frosts.

Apparently there is a company in Motherwell called Stripes that does them, but the source for that also pointed out that supposedly DVLA made them illegal too.

thought Jockanese had different rules for number plates compared to England.

Our local Motorparts store does them ... hence mine, with a couple of spares ... ;)

A couple of L brackets and fit it to the roof above the windscreen. OK i'll go back to bed then.:5bwilly_nilly:

Get a roll of foam double sided tape and stick the original plate onto the sloping part of your bonnet. Mine came like this on the Disco in my avatar and has been seen by many a copper without any comments being passed.

rivnut it to the bonnet?

stick on plates are legal & you can get reflective ones...where are you jimbo?
I can order stick on ones .. only prob is I need your original documents, cant accept faxes/photocopies (GAY V L A rulez)
