I want to buy some alloys for my Defender 110 td5 it has a new set of
BFgoodrich 265 75 r16 mud terrain on it, on scruffy steel modulars,
Do i need 16-7 or 16-8 wheels to refit these tyres? Thanks in advance

Thanks
Can you put 265 s on 8 " rims? as that would leave scope should i manage to wear the monsters out!

Well i did look at that, they are pretty poor and would need shot blasting, saw that steel modulars on paddocks for 30 each so would probably be cheaper to buy new steelys than try to sort mine out.

Have nt made up my mind yet but need to do something this week as i have a screw sticking out of one of the tyres and want to get all sorted at same time.

Really what are the advantages of steel over alloy, just strength?

Alloys are lighter thus there is less recipricating mass and less wear on bearings ect and some people belive that alloys are more astheticly pleasing..... I think they look ****e but hey that is just me.

Also an alloy is much more likely to buckle and need replacing or smacking with a hammer to straighten out :p

Steels are heavier however they are cheaper and imo they look better. It ain't unheard for them to become buckled though (Christ knows how some people manage it... but normally you can just smack em with a hammer and staighten them)

If it were me on a defender i would get some deep dish black modulars :)

OK, today had 4 silver steel modulars put on, 16-8" ,at jsf in Norfolk refitted all my nearly new tyres and one new bfg mud...looks loads better and i have to say they are very nice chaps there!(although the bet you didnt pay too much for this landy comment could have hurt if it had nt been true:))
Thanks for all advice
