Took the old cream interior out of my disco 1996 300tdi and repacing it with a better looking grey one, fitted the dash back in wired it all up, and noticed this just hanging there (under the ignition area)??? i dont remember removing it, so have no idea where it goes back too, its the only bit stopping me from finishing the job.... any ideas?? Cheers

Its an imobiliser coil assembly, as to where it goes i believe it goes to the proximity sensor around the ignition barrel but could be wrong

see... thats what i thought, and i tried to fit it over the barrel, but theres a small loom and a bulb cable tied around the barrel preventing it from going on all the way, then i cant get the cap on the end that covers the barrel and bulb... and then the cowelling dont fit

Edit: googled it, it does go round the barrel, i'll have to fiddle with it tomorrow

Just had a quick look at RAVE and it says it fits over the starter switch barrel

that's correct. It's the receiver ring for the immobiliser chip in the fob.
