Everyone either has a budget or what they are prepared and depending on spec I'm looking to spend upto £2k
I like the look of the discovery, other then that, that's all I know
I've had enough of the roads where I live, there's plenty of off road tracks.
I recently wrote off a car to flood damage, and I'm still in emotional despair, so when that cheque comes through I deserve a little fun
I've had a decent motorbike, was to fast, a few decent performance cars, nothing but money pits.
Now I would appreciate people's views and what to look out for
I know the arches and seals and rear floor are liable to rust that's about it
Sorry it's abit long winded
Cheers for now

If you have a search pal, there will be a few buying guides, have a read, and if there's anything specific you want to know, then come and ask away;););)

£2k is disco money for sure. But don't expect any land rover to be any less of a money pit than any other car you've had in the past!

i bought a 200tdi disco in 2005 for 1300 its had a few minor repairs, steering joints, uj , brake caliper, cv joint sort of stuff and a bit of welding most years for mot.... needed major welding for mot this month so floggrd it on , tad over 600 on fleabay... going to be a defender transplant.

if you can find a 200 or 300 tdi disco that has a sound floor and cil area theres no real reason to expect massive bills unless you abuse it. parts are cheap , most jobs are diy doable

Thanks guys
I went to a local 4x4 warehouse and matey was quite good
Like u say, other then welding the usual bits I will expect cv joints etc
Is it hard to see the rust underneath, I mean, is up behind rear diff? Knowing where abouts to look would help. Other than outer inner seals arches and round engine mounts

you'll need to lift the carpets to check! Take a couple of screw drivers to do this and don't buy the first one you see!!

Lift the carpets in the boots yeh?
Is it visible from underneath with a torch?
I don't want to go ripping someone else's carpet that's all
