Just another post on my wiring work, I've got a large bunch of wires coming through the bulkhead into the engine bay that feed lights, starter solenoid, alternator etc. am I best to add inline fuse to these, if so which ones? And what amp would that be? Thanks and hope you can help

They should not need fuses.
Best improvement for headlights is to install a relay to feed the lights operated by the original headlight wiring this takes the stress off the column and dash switches.

If the wiring is original it will have a few items that are fused - see the wiring diagram. Land Rover never seemed to believe in fuses (which might explain the number of bodged series wiring looms) but you can add some if you want. A couple of relays and a halogen headlight conversion won't upset the originality too much (if you're bothered) but it will let you see where you're going at night!
