With the downpours we have had up here in Yorkshire today my alternator has output has been cutting out when getting wet.Its not a belt issue as no squeals. Is this normal when it gets wet.Is it a sign of its impending demise or this there a way i can sort it may be some form of splash guard.Cheers

I get the same problem on my 90. thing is, I don't really think it's a problem as such. I always thought it would be the belt slipping tbh. It doesn't squeal, but don't they just do that when they're dry anyway?

Tiz simples! Water on belt reduces friction and belt slips - light comes on - slipping belt=friction=heat - belt dries - no slip - light goes out.
