Anyone got one for sale and still living in the real world?
10 years ago we used to scrap these engines and no one wanted them and now people are asking thousands for them.

Not really kid, breakers used to give them away for 50 quid everyone wanted diesel hence all the perkins, Jap and tdi conversions.
You were probably messing around with fisher price toys back then

And as I've already said if your older than 20 you will remember when you couldn't even give then away

I heard this forum had gone downhill and it kinds of shows here used to be people tried to help each other or have a crack now it's just kids.

I guess it's all relative, vehicle prices have shot up and so will parts prices.
My 1st car ,Mk1 Escort cost £180, if only I still had it!

The point is, things that aren't made anymore get harder to source and repair.. price goes up

I reckon we should all pool resources build a time machine and go back, buy all those cars that were dirt cheap like XR3i Renault 5 Turbo and every VW Product that you could pick up for literally 50 quid.
Put them in a barn then travel back to 2025 and become millionaires!

Don’t know if this would help you or not. Guy called Graeme Cooper in Dalkeith, Edinburgh has a ton of stuff to do with lr’s. I was there a little while back gettin some stuff and there was some of these sitting. All working order. Worth giving him a try if it’s not too far away for you. Cooper Land Rover,The Old Sawmill, Smeaton, Dalkeith,EH22 2ND tel:0131 663 9769. A friend of mine is just staring a rebuild on a series 3. He has the engine you’re looking for and a 200 tdi and a diesel from the era of the motor. He’s not decided which one he’ll put in it. If he goes for the diesel option I’ll message you cos he’ll sell the old petrol. Depending where you are in Britain I’m sure we could arrange a halfway meet to deliver it if your shouting the coffees.
