Yes, waffles are excellent traction aids in the mud. thats thier main use. you wont end up bridging much of anything really. See my thread on waffle board holder in the defender section. do a search, if you want more info on waffles. a lot has been written.

Seen it. But I don't think thats for me. I don't like hanging stuff off the rear door. As soon as I finish building my roof rack, wheel, waffle boards and hi-lift jack (when I get the last two) will be going up there!

Fit ya Hi-lift inside if you can. keeps it clean and dry and stops thieving bastids from helping themselves to it. Mine is fitted to the bulkhead behind the seats. Perfect fit and out of the way. But easy to get to when needed.

Hi lift jack on outside bad idea rusts, any weight on roof bad idea landy falls over offroading, waffle boards on roof bad idea weigh a ton even when not full of mud bad idea for back. Landys should be packed like rucksacs everything neatly inside. you are free to disagree bur you would be wrong

well i have to meet you guys half way. Hi-lift spends most of its time inside UNTIL we go laning or camping thats when it gets moved onto the swing away carrier. The waffle boards too will now be hung on this.
Lil-landy i agree that you wouldnt want the jack or waffles hanging off the door, but with a swingaway this is not a problem :tea:
I would refrain from putting your spare on the roof along with other things. keep the weight low and central. Hi-lift are soon releasing a neoprene boot to go over the jack mechanism to help keep out dust/mud etc. looks good, not seen them in the UK yet though.

aye ther're great i got up four floors the other day no problem,had to get the elevator down right enough though
