Still have issues with my ABS & SRS lights, as posted before the motor has been into 3 garages and cannot get the diagnostic plug to work, local garages do not seem intrested so have decided this time home to check all the wireing. I read also that a low voltage can cause all sorts of problems so decided to check the battery with the engine running and am getting 13.95 volts at 2000 rpm, can remember a thread that I cannot find saying I should get 14.2v-14.4v, thing is have never had a problem with it starting, just wondered if its producing enough to keep the battery charged enough for starting but not enough so causing problems with the electronics. Ah the joys.

Assuming your meter is accurate, I would expect over 14 volts after a few minutes running with a good battery. Mine is prone to come up with traction failure when the battery voltage is low after I have been working on the beast. As soon as the battery is fully charged, the message does not re-appear. I would gues you have a dodgy cell in the battery. If your car has a modern reduction geared starter, it is quite likely it will still spin over and start.
Of course it could just be the P38's way of telling you it doesn't like coils:mooning:

was a brand new exide about 11 months ago, 96 a/h, I put it on the charger and got an instant 7 amp charge even though she starts no problem. !!!

Instant 7 amp charge says low battery or dodgy cell to me. Could be an alternator fault not charging properly, or a problem with the wiring from the alternator to the battery and battery earths etc.
