What are the VM diesels like on power and economy.
Looking at buying one in the new-year but dont know much about them???
Its in a rangy, manual box.
Hope they are not :mooning: . As the price seems good.
Cheers

Don't do it they are Italian ****e. and cost a fortune to repair when they go wrong and been Italian they often go wrong. get a tdi if you're going for a diesel

What are the main problems, anything to look for when looking at the lump. Im happy with Rangy's just no dealings with this engine?
What gearbox do they use?

Head gaskets (they have 4 seperate heads) blowing, over heating issues lack of grunt. I don't know anyone who has had a VM diesel who's ever been happy with them They also fit em in J**P Cherokee's and they're ****e in them as well.

Possibly the worst engine ever made, as said they have four seperate heads and gaskets, they are an absolute bastard to work on, frequently go wrong and cost a bloody fortune to repair.
I run my own business in the motor trade and I won't touch a VM engine now, last one I did was about three years ago, replaced all four heads, the owner almost had an heart attack when I gave her the bill, and that's despite warning her of the likely costs before hand.
Go down the TDi route, you'll not go far wrong there.
