Hi been working on a 300TDI that had a Head Gasket Failure.

Seems the 1st 3rd and 5th set of studs and nuts have been overtightened and threaded the block of the head.

The 2nd and 4th are bolts and look to be ok.

I have re tapped the 1st and 3rd and they look ok. The 5th is going to be an arse to do.

I am wondering if any one can recomend a product that may help set them so they dont come undone.

Or another method which will hold them in place?

If you are saying they ripped out then retapping will not sustain torque for long. You should go to an engineering supplier and get a set of helicoils and fitting tap/tool.

You retap the hole with the new tap and wind in a helicoil, break of the tang and your done!

Any one know what size the thread is off top of there head?
I am going to order some but dont want to drive to the workshop to find out.

8mm i have done this and found that the head was drill alot more than it was threaded so i made some longer studs and tapted the threads deeper
