Im Going to do the vlave stem oil seals today on my money pit lol i mean project.... has anyone done this without removing the heads? if so was there a specialist tool needed?

If i'll let you know how i get on

You will need to buy or make special tools to change seals without removing heads.

We use to stuff a long length of rag down the spark plug hole leaving an end to pull it out with, gently wind the motor over with a spanner until the piston compresses the rag against the valves (with the cam or rockers removed) it was then possible to remove the valve springs in situe to do the oil seals. Perhaps not to be recomended but it worked.

Yeah Keith there are lots of ways to do it. But you still need something to hold the spring down while you take the collets out and put them back in.

Mate with a ring spanner, or for some engines I made a gadget that pivoted on a rocker shaft bolt.:D

Ahh yes, i too remember the days when i could push hard enough with one hand on a ringer whilst i put the collets in with the other. Long gone i am afraid. :D:D:D
