OK it can only be a 200 or 300 Tdi. I looked in my Haynes manual and to remove and replace the pump is easy on the 200 and on the 300 you also have to position no1. cylinder a TDC so again easy.
With glow plugs I don't know, I would go with OEM or Genuine Parts.

How easy? The Haynes manual makes this a 4 spanner job!
Isn't there a simpler way to find TDC? What'll happen if it's not at TDC when you remove the pump? (I'm asking cos I recently bought a pump to fit but haven't got round to it yet.

TDC "this will release tension from the pump operating plunger" it a 2 spanner job.
The Haynes manual explains also how to find TDC in section 2B para 3. thats a 4 spanner job but that looks like it's for locking the piston at top dead centre, all you want to do is to position the piston a TDC.
I'm sure someone who has done the job will provide more info 4U.

Haynes: One spanner rating.
Translation: An infant could do this... so how did you manage to **** it up?
Haynes: Two spanner rating.
Translation: Now you may think that you can do this because two is a low, teensy weensy number... but you also thought the wiring diagram was a map of the Tokyo underground (in fact, that would have been more use to you).
Haynes: Three spanner rating.
Translation: Make sure you won't need your car for a couple of days.
Haynes: Four spanner rating.
Translation: You're not seriously considering this are you?

Translation: OK - but don't ever transport your loved ones in it again.

A good link battenburg but def a 4 plus spanner job.
On the 200 all u have to do make alignment marks then undo the three bolts according to my zero spanners book.
The 200 engine wins
And Rich (sp33der) still has to do the glow plugs.

shouldnt you be working in hammer sizes not spanner ratings... after all these are Land Rovers???

Actually, it's Shiznmatt that has to do the glow plugs, not me, I just hijacked the thread! Looks much too complicated to set TDC though, I thought there'd be a couple of handy marks on pulleys to line up or summat. Anybody found a simpler way to change the pump? Surely somebody just undid the bolts and took it out.... ?
