Hi Folks,

Well the crank pulley tool is made and fitted ut can I hell get the pulley nut to budge! Before I get bashing the hell out of it, cansomeone please confirm the direction and type of thread of the securing nut on this crank pulley please?

Engine is 2001 V8 Petrol.

RAVE manual just has a line that says to remove the nut, but does not specify thread direction. From this I am assuming its just a normal right hand thread??

Then again it does say RHT for the water pump pulley. This pully turns in opposite direction on the belt. But I thinking this crank pulley bolt just holds it in place an dthere may be a key in the shaft so not require left hand thread. I am sure some guru can help me before I break it!

Thanks for now

Dave

You are assuming correctly, right hand thread, so far as I can determine, no special note on direction of thread in my W/S manual either, but it does mention some engines (early?) had a cranking dog incorporated with this bolt, therefore it must be RHT, and it is not a nut but a cap screw, thread is inside crank nose.
Use a good fitting, pref 6 point impact socket and sturdy bar and "shock" it with a hammer, someone may have used "loctite" on the thread previously. Good luck.

Last time I had bother with mine, brought compressor home from work and impact wrench took it off in fraction of a second. Snap on battery gun wouldn't budge it. Rht

Cheers folks. I went for it in the end and put an extension bar on my longest level bar and a 24mm socket. With the pulley locked in place with my new special made tool it eventually went with just brute force!
The radiator was in place so not able to with rattle gun, but it did eventually go with just effort!

I can also confirm thats it definately a RHT.
Thanks again
