can anyone tell me what gearbox i have in my original 90 3.5 v8 county ? its a 1989 model with twin su carbs , 3rd and 5th gear are a little noisey so maybe looking to replace the box or does anyone know where i can get one , and was the box used in anything else

if reverse is top left lt77

could be an lt85 santana

or an lr lt85 ,would sound like it needs layshaft bearings if quite in 4th

if its original factory im positive it is lt85 have a roll under if its black its an lt77, if silver lt85

Ok guys thanks for the info , I wll have a look and post the result , 1st 2nd and 4th are quiet but 3rd and 5th are noisy and will get worse over time so I would like to sort it out

Had a look under the 90 and I can confirm its not painted just silver aluminium So is it lt 85 ? And is there any other land rovers it was used in

yeah 85 then, can see a 77 in the pic too, the black centred one

no ,but if its the 22c split case type its not too bad a job to replace lay shaft bearings

yeah if its all silver then its an lt85, i asked james martin (above) originally when i had this problem, mine turned out top be a 77 but mines not original v8
