Hello, I recently was given my Dad's beloved Land Rover Discovery 300 TDi Red. Now I'm 16 (17 in a month) and yes i know i won't get insured on the car as of yet, but i would like to get it kitted out for off-roading.

Now, I don't want to spend a lot of money, so i want some of the best essential upgrades like wheels winch bar etc, but also the best place to get them from for good value.
If you have any links with some for sale that would be much appreciated! :D

Thank you for your time!

It doesn't need anyother essentials?? It's perfectly capable off road, as it left the forecourt. The only thing you might wanna do to it is fit some AT tyres. If you Mod it your insurance will go thru the roof.

Use it first before modding it.

Theyre very capable in standard form, first mod for me would be tyres.

No point spending lots of money on things you dont need, go out in it and see how it fares up...from here you can judge where you want to spend money.

I've been out laning in both of my modified Discos and have been followed by standard ones on AT tyres!

Okay well I don't want any engine upgrades, just things that will help with offroad. I'm planning on doing the 6 hour mile with my cousin with it :)

Don't worry about upgrading it yet, learn how it works and get on top of the maintenance issues. (It's an old Disco it will have issues) Fit some decent AT tyres and enjoy it.

WTF is the 6hr mile?? I know ya a teenager but do try an pay attention? If you Modify it your insurance will go thru the roof. If ya decide not to tell ya insurers about the mods. they cancel ya policy..

Im not worrying about the insurance because i wont be using it on the road. and the 6 hour mile is an offroading even near where i live :)

Surely you will need some form of personal insurance, 3rd party even?? What happens if you hit another vehicle or even injure someone? Maybe i'm out of the loop a bit but having nowt seems odd....

Just to warn you some sites requre you to be insured, but dont give a hoot MOT (aslong as it arrives on a trailer), good luck with the disco and the 6 hour mile, sounds like an interesting event.
