Hi again - so now ive got my new transfer box fitted and working and racking up miles now to try and build confidence but the problems keen on coming!! Ive noticed now that when manoevering on full lock or close to it, i need lots of engine revs to get the beast to move (as tho brakes are on but they arent!) and she sort of jumps forward jerkily accompanied by odd noises, once the lock is eased shes ok. Ive checked the tyres are not fouling.
The only thing i can think of is the brass bush at the back of the swivel which locates the drive shaft is badly worn - could this be allowing the drive shaft to do funny things? Anyone else experienced this? thanks steve

It's more likely to be the CV joint. Is the funny noise a cracking sort of noise?

It sez in the manual that to avoid damage to the pump you should avoid excessive use of full lock! Lot of chuffin' good that is if you need to park in a modern car park.

Difflock will only cause problems between the wheels on both axles, not between the wheels on one axle. I think!

I know but once drove my old disco in a car park with diff lock on and it made some funny noises at the front when turning tightly. Didn't do it without diff lock.

im 99% sure diff lock is off but after the probs ive had ill jack up a wheel to be sure. Its not really a crcking noise - more of a heavy rumbling/knocking - it seems to get worse when reversing just when you dip the clutch and freewheel on tight lock, steve

You were right - the diff lock has stuck on - despite what the warning light tells me, if i jack up front wheel, it wont rotate with diff lock off in neutral - any ideas how to free diff lock please?

Its sorted - the actuating arm wasnt quite causing the diff lock to disengage - ive er straightened the arm a bit and now its engaging/disengaging ok - thanks all
