What's the trick of getting the transmission fluid out, without getting under the RR? I can't go climbing under it yet, for obvious reasons, I know there are things you can put down into the dipstick and pull the fluid out, but will that work with the RR? thanks

But I can do the oil as well with it, if it will do the job just as well, it seems a lot easier, especially since the oil filter is up the top of the car, it makes sense

You can Vac the **** out IIRC,

Around 4,2 litres should come out, for reference etc.

So you are going to syphon it out through the dipstick? As both filler and drain plugs are underneath

You measure what you get out, and put the same back in, but check its correct before you start?

There is always a debate about pump/vacuum fluid changing Vs. popping the plug and/or dropping the pan to have a good clean off of any "gunge".
I think Jiffy-Lube in the US started the whole vacuum oil-changing because it meant they avoided "you stripped my thread/buggered my pan up" arguments.
For an auto-box are there no filters in there that are worth cleaning/changing?

There is a filter and a magnet that could do with cleaning/changing..

In an ideal world the pan would be dropped.

No dipstick on the later ones and no filler plug if a dipstick is fitted.

Most you will get out even removing drain plug is 4 to 4.5 litres. 9.7 litres is fill from empty.

On the HP22/24 there is a filter in the sump that needs changing which rather negates the idea of vacuuming the oil out.

Yea I have dropped the pan before, small filter, and like said you don't get it all out anyway, the only reason to drop the pan is to change the filter, I got it anyway, can change my engine oil as well, might get some Lucas oil transition fix as well, won't do any harm
