Hi all, i have checked the transfer box oil in my 300tdi defender today and replaced it with some fresh oil, but it is still whining. I've come to the conclusion its going to need something doing with it. :doh:

Does anyone know, or have any experience of:

1) How much a replacement transfer box will be from salvage?
2) How much it would be for the existing box to be refurbished professionally?
3) Has anyone refurbished one themselves with a refurb kit you can buy online?

Landy shop on line , or something similar , do second hand diffs for £95 quid ish , think its plus vat and carridge . cheap I think !

Olli - A recon transfer box from ashcroft will be about 495 plus vat. I just bought one a few weeks back and had it fitted. Second hand you maybe £40 upwards. You get no gurantee that you are getting a good one second hand. If you are fitting it yourself and fit a crap one then it wont cost you too much. If you paying someone else to fit it and its a bad one then youve wated money on labour. Its up to you.
